When visiting Amsterdam, a visit to the Saturday organic market at Noordermarkt in the Jordaan is a must for all food lovers. The market is in one of the most scenic parts of the city on the corner of Prinsengracht and Brouwersgracht.
You will find the most beautiful fresh, organic and regional grown produce, cheeses and flowers. A visit to Biologische Noordermarkt Amsterdam is always part of our Saturday ritual. We like to get inspired by anything in season and go home and make the most incredible lunches with the kids. We try to involve the kids in the shopping process so they get just as excited about all the fresh foods and making it into a meal.
Some of our favoriete vendors for fruit & vegetables are De Vierslag, De Knotwilg, Bellemarie. We like to get our mushrooms at Portabella Paddestoelen en cheese at Maartens Marktkraam. Our son always likes to stop for fresh oysters at Goede Vissers (even in the morning) This is just a handful of great vendors and there are many more.
Just 50 meters away is the Lindengracht market which is mostly non-organic side but also worth the visit. On Saturday’s summer you can find Theo and his local garden harvest at o bistro Amsterdam which is also a favourite of ours.
Trust me, everything tastes just as good as it looks and smells!
You can visit Noordermarkt On Saturdays, from 09:00 to 16:00. We always like to be there early so we can have the best selection of the day. Something like Zucchini flowers or specialty tomatoes can sell out by mid-morning so we’re there bright and early!
